Hello! Welcome to my website, and thank you for stumbling in. Here is where I’ll talk about all sorts of whatnot’s, from arts and crafts, to traveling and good food. There’s so much that I enjoy doing or want to do that I don’t think I’ll be able to list them all for you!
I started drawing when I first saw Sailor Moon on air in the states. From then forward I’ve been drawing since. A majority of my art pieces will be in the style of cartoon/anime/manga like, sometimes semi-realism, but that’s not my strong point. I prefer to draw traditional art, which is drawn by pen/pencil and colored by traditional mediums, like paints, markers, colored pencils, etc. The feel of messy paint and the textures of paper on your hands just reminds me of being one with the drawing. I mostly prefer drawing in black and white, but if I do end up using colors, it will vary depending on the mood of my drawings/ and myself in that current state. If I don’t finish a drawing within the same day I started drawing, I find that I can’t go back and finish that same drawing the next day. So when I do draw, I may spend all day and night on one drawing/painting. I do enjoy a bit of both traditional and digital art. I do have a drawing tablet, and the main one that I use is the Wacom – Cintiq 13hd. The program that I use to color with would be Photoshop CS6, I also sometimes use Paint Tool Sai.
I’m still trying to pick a certain style to draw in, but I noticed, that’s not going to happen any time soon no matter how hard I try. I think I kind of gave up trying to stick with just one style. I also find it gets a bit boring staying in the same style, and I’ll tend to lose my creativity. Maybe one day I’ll stick with one style, but not today!
Another big thing I enjoy is amigurumi, which is knitting/crochet (you can read more about what amigurumi is here). I love creating little dolls and things for friends and family. I’ve only been making these dolls for the past few 5+ years, so I wouldn’t say I’m that great yet. It all started when I randomly found some cute yarn dolls online and from that moment on I decided I was going to give it a try!
Boy, am I happy I took a chance, look at where I’m at now. I started with a stubby little doll that looked like a fuzz ball, and now I’m on to making bigger dolls in all shapes and sizes! I’m hoping that one day I’ll be able to send these creations all over the world! But for now, I’m happy with making them for friends and family. I’ll keep practicing, dreaming, and aiming to get to where I want to be. I won’t settle. Those are only a few things to name from my long list of enjoyments! I could go on forever, and forever!
About myself, I’m Nalee, Nal for short if you can’t pronounce my whole name. Don’t worry I’m used to it. Trust me you aren’t and won’t be the only one that can’t pronounce it. I’m Hmong American, born and raised in California. For those who don’t know the Hmong people, no worries, I’ve included a link here, for you to read a bit about our history, thank you Wikipedia. It’s a long story, but if you’re interested on learning more feel free to contact me!
I moved from America to New Zealand, a year ago. I left the life I knew, my family, friends, and loved animals behind to start a new with my husband. As I start my new life in New Zealand, I plan to keep my family and friends updated about my daily living here. I will say it’s not as easy as you think it may be, but I’ll keep that for another post.
I have big plans to document my work for everyone to see, and in hopes to sell to people from all over the world to enjoy. I may not be a professional, and I don’t claim to be, but come follow me as I make progress on my big dreams and go through my daily life.
Much love, xo, Nal.
Any support, share, and love, is much appreciated!
