Baby booties & Headband
Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. Summer is finally here and I’ve been trying to soak up as much sun as possible before winter hits us again.. So before the sun disappears I’ve been going on some cool adventures and I will definitely show you what’s around in our backyard here. It won’t literately be in my own backyard, but in the county where I reside. It’s been a while since I have been able to post anything about the lovely country that I reside in.
For now, go on-wards with crochet work and make you or a friend a pair of these! I have been looking at patterns for booties, and thought I’d try something different from amigurumi dolls. As I was browsing around the internet, I found some very cute patterns and thought I’d give it a try. So today, I give you baby booties and baby headbands!
The baby bootie pattern that I followed was from here. You can make both versions if you want, I found the pattern easy to follow. With the bow pattern, here’s what I was able to make.
Ch 10, yarn over, and starting from the 2nd chain from the hook
HDC across (10), ch 1, turn your work
Repeat for 14 more rows
On the 14th row – FO and weave into the ends
Gather the center of the strip with 2 small horizontal ‘pleats’. and using the same yarn colour, start wrapping the string around the centre, you can make it as thick or thin as you want.
Secure the ends in the back of the bow with a knot.
Or you can choose to make the middle of the centre by crocheting a little band to put there by using SC stitches.
Half Shell Headband Pattern
The size will vary depending on who you will make this for. Make sure to measure the child/adult’s head before making to get the best size.
Row 1: Work 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Continue working sc to the end. Join by slst to the 1st sc. (66)
You will now be working in rounds.
Row 2: Sc all around. (66)
Row 3: Beginning shell, start in same st where hook is. (See shell stitch below to start) Repeat to end and join at top of ch 3. (about 22 Shells)
How to shell stitch;
- Work a sc into the 2nd st from your hook.
- Skip the next two st. Work a DC into the next st after that.
- Work four DC into the same st, for a total of five DC.
- Skip the next two st. SC stitch into the next st.
- Skip the next two st and work five DC into the next st.
Rows 3-6: Sl St in each dc of shell into space between first two shells and repeat to the end.
When you get to the desired height that you want, finish by creating an edge around the shells for a clean look.
Ch 1. Sc all around.
Finish off. Weave in ends.
There may be mistakes on the pattern, and if you find any, please let me know by commenting below so I can correct it. I usually write the pattern down as I make them, however, I may have forgot some terms or rows along the way.
If you do make an amigurumi doll with one of my patterns please share a photo of your finished product with me! I would love to see what you were able to create!
